How to adopt from HRRN

Before you adopt a rabbit through HRRN, you will receive you information to help you make an informed decision about acquiring a rabbit as a house pet. Our adoption advisor will ask for information from you to ensure that every adopted rabbit goes to a good home. Here are some of the guidelines:

  • Rabbits are adopted to indoor homes
  • An adult must be the primary caretaker
  • The adopter should demonstrate awareness of responsible pet care
  • Adoptions to homes with young children are discouraged unless a parent is strongly committed to teaching the child respect and responsible behavior toward the rabbit
  • Rabbits are not adopted for classroom pets
  • When juvenile rabbits are adopted prior to spay or neuter, the adopter must agree never to breed the rabbit

HRRN charges a fee to help cover medical and care expenses and to discourage people who want a rabbit for reasons other than companionship.
