2024 Recap – What House Rabbit Resource Network Accomplished with Your Help
We got the 2024 New Year off to a great start with our 30th Anniversary Celebration. Thanks to all who came out to support our Silent Auction, enjoy food/libation, have fun, and learn a little history about HRRN. We were thrilled to kick-off our Capital Campaign and to announce our first major donation from the Henry Foundation. With continued support and donations, we hope to one day build our own facility.
Other 2024 notable accomplishments:
We spayed/neutered 81 rabbits this year to help prevent more unwanted rabbits from ending up at overcrowded shelters.
We adopted out 177 rabbits to new homes! Many were long term shelter residents (Feliz, Dairy Queen, Aurora & Nebraska, and Eva & Magda) as well as several who had medical issues which required expensive treatment prior to adoption:
- Maizie – $2,228.23 (mouth/teeth issues)
- Daisy – $858.77 (broken ankle)
- Bourbun – $853.73 (ear removed)
- Durango – $936.82 (choking incidents and previously broken leg)
- And many of you have seen and commented on Eggnog, who came in with severe ear mites. Her before and after photos are incredible!
- We took in 157 rabbits to provide safety, veterinary care, food, and love (from our wonderful volunteers) until their forever home is found.
- We conducted 363 fecal floats and microchipped 109 rabbits – all a part of our Wellness Program.
- We held 13 vaccine clinics for our shelter with the assistance of our veterinarian volunteers and plans to do more for the shelter buns are in the works!
Day-to-day operations at the shelter are pricy and the veterinary care we provide is expensive. We hope you will consider donating to our programs or the Capital Campaign. Every gift makes a difference, no matter the size, and helps us closer to achieving our goals.
2025 Upcoming Events – What’s Hopping For HRRN’s Success This Year
Our major fundraising event Amplify Austin is just around the corner. Join us virtually for the biggest giving event in Central Texas, happening on March 5th and 6th! To “amplify” your donation during Amplify Austin even more, join us virtually on Thursday, March 6th and donate between 11 am – 12 pm for HRRN’s Power Hour and help us win the $1,000 PowerHour prize!
The PowerHour “competition” is based on whichever nonprofit receives the highest number of unique donors—not the total amount of money raised during that hour. In other words, it’s all about how many people donate to our rescue within that timeframe, not how much they give. So, 500 people donating $5 each (the minimum amount) would win over 100 people donating $50 each. HRRN has dominated PowerHour for three years running—let’s keep that streak going!
Spring Bunny Spa Day will be coming up soon as well. As soon as we have a date confirmed we’ll send out more information.
