What Rabbits Eat
Rabbits eat a variety of fibrous foods that include timothy hay, pellets, leafy greens, and the occasional fruit treat.
Our bunny friends have sensitive digestive systems, so it’s very important to know what and how much of a certain food they need to eat to stay healthy and happy.

Rabbits Need to Eat Hay
Rabbits need to eat hay because its high fiber content helps keep their digestive tracts moving, as well as keep their teeth ground down (because otherwise their teeth will just keep growing!).
Not just any hay should be fed to your rabbit. Rabbits should be fed Timothy or Orchard Grass hay, and it should be fed in unlimited quantities.

Rabbits & Pellets
A high-quality rabbit pellet provides trace nutrients such as vitamins and minerals. A rabbit might not get these nutrients if fed only hay and fresh foods.
Be careful feeding pellets to your rabbit! Too many pellets can cause health problems, and obesity. Some rabbits might ignore their hay, to the detriment of the intestinal system.

Fresh Foods
Fresh foods make up an important part of your rabbit’s diet; they provide additional nutrients, water, as well as different textures and tastes, which are enriching for your rabbit-friend. Fresh foods for rabbits consist of a variety of leafy greens, non-leafy vegetables, herbs, and fruit.
10% of your rabbits diet should be from fresh foods.
